Introducing Iron & Copper Free Daily Essential Nutrients

undefined

In response to feedback from individuals who are sensitive to either iron or copper supplementation, we are excited to announce a new version of Daily Essential Nutrients: Iron & Copper Free.

Who can benefit from this new micronutrient formulation?

Those With Hemochromatosis: Iron Sensitivity

Iron is an essential mineral for growth and development in the body. The body uses iron to produce hemoglobin, a protein that carries oxygen from the lungs to all parts of the body, as well as myoglobin, which provides oxygen to muscles. You also need iron to make certain hormones in your body.

Hemochromatosis is a disorder in which extra iron builds up in the body to harmful levels. Without treatment, hemochromatosis can cause iron overload, a buildup of iron that can damage many parts of the body, including your liver, heart, pancreas, endocrine glands, and joints. People with hemochromatosis can expect the same wide range of benefits from supplementing with Daily Essential Nutrients: Iron & Copper Free, without introducing additional iron into their body.

Copper Sensitivity

Our bodies need copper. It is an extremely important mineral that the body uses for many functions. For one thing, copper helps keep the correct shape of red blood cells. Copper also helps the body absorb iron. A copper deficiency can lead to anemia even if you have enough iron.

Copper plays a role in immune function. Like zinc, it helps create reactive oxygen species that kill viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Furthermore, it uses the same reactive nature to help with energy production. It helps keep our nerves, connective tissue, and bones healthy. Finally, copper helps with nerve conduction. There are several functions that copper has in the nervous system. One is that it is a cofactor in the conversion of dopamine into norepinephrine. And, this is where too much free copper in some people can be a bad thing.

Certain individuals have a sensitivity to supplementing with copper, which can cause psychiatric symptoms in some cases. While Daily Essential Nutrients does not provide high or dangerous levels of copper (an essential element), those with copper sensitivity may prefer to use Daily Essential Nutrients Iron & Copper Free to avoid the additional copper altogether.

When copper is balanced properly with zinc, like in our original and ‘added Vitamers’ versions of Daily Essential Nutrients, the average person has nothing to worry about. But those who are extra sensitive to copper may experience “copper overload”. This can present itself in the form of hyperactivity, anxiety, and explosiveness.

For those experiencing copper overload or who are sensitive to copper intake, we recommend Daily Essential Nutrients: Iron & Copper Free
