Daily Essential Nutrients Powder Recipe Ideas

A big thanks to all those who submitted recipes for our Daily Essential Nutrients Powder Smoothie Recipe Contest!

After trying the recipes that were submitted, we noted some similarities in recipes that tasted the best. Here are a couple of our observations:

  • Adding a banana base (preferably a slightly green banana) acts as a great suspending agent and also serves as a good masker.
  • Adding chocolate is a simple way to mask the flavour of the powder (if you like chocolate).

Best Tasting (1st place recipe):

Pina Colada Shake

  • 1.5 cups of frozen pineapple
  • 1 banana
  • 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup of milk (replace with soy or coconut milk if desired)
  • 1 scoop (2 tsp.) of Daily Essential Nutrients Powder
  • Add: 2 leaves of fresh (or dried) mint if you want to spruce up the flavour

Blend until smooth & enjoy.

Quickest & Simplest (2nd place recipe):

Banana-Chocolate Shake

  • 3 bananas (preferably slightly green)
  • 1.5 cups of chocolate milk (replace with soy or coconut milk mixed with Nestle's Quick if desired)
  • 1 scoop (2 tsp.) of Daily Essential Nutrients Powder
  • Add: extra chocolate if you like chocolate

Blend until smooth & enjoy.

Most Unique (3rd place recipe):

Tangy Apple-Lemon Drink

  • 5 whole juiced apples 
  • 1 whole juiced lemon
  • 1 scoop (2 tsp.) of Daily Essential Nutrients Powder
  • Add: something to thicken the drink and suspend the Powder better (like a whole blended banana), if desired

Mix together and drink quickly with a straw.
Note: DO NOT use this recipe if you are on psychiatric medications, as components of the citrus (lemon) bioflavonoids can interact strongly with medications.

Berry-Chocolate Blend

  • 1 cup of milk (replace with soy or coconut milk if desired)
  • 1/2 a banana

  • 1/4 cup of blueberries

  • 1/2 cup of orange juice

  • 1 1/2 cups of frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup of fresh spinach

  • 2 Tbs. of orange juice concentrate
  • 2 Tbs. of coconut oil

  • 1/3 cup of frozen strawberries

Berry-Vanilla Protein Shake

  • 1 cup of mixed frozen berries
  • 1 frozen banana

  • 4 Tbs. of vanilla protein powder

Grape-Sorbet Popsicle

  • 1 cup of frozen mixed berries

  • 1 cup of fresh spinach
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup of frozen mango

Ice Cream-Berry-Walnut Shake
